To change the type of an investment account, follow these steps:
Part 1: Export the Account That You Want to Change
- On the File menu, click Export.
- Click Loose QIF, and then click OK.
- In the File name box, type a name for the export file, and then click OK.
- Click Investment, and then click OK.
- In the Account List, click the investment account that you want to export, and then click Continue.
- When the export process is complete, click OK.
- Repeat steps 1 through 6 for each investment account whose type you want to change.
Part 2: Delete the Investment That You Exported
- On the Investing menu on the Money Home Page, click Portfolio.
- In the left pane, click Work with investments, and then click Delete an investment.
- In the list of accounts, click the investment account that you want to change, and then click OK.
- Repeat step 3 to delete all the investment accounts that you want to change.
Part 3: Import the Investment
- On the File menu on the Money Home Page, click Import.
- In the list of files, click the file that you exported in part 1, and then click Import.
- Match the QIF file with the appropriate account, and then click OK.
NOTE: When you are prompted to create the investment, make sure to create it as Stock.
- When the import process is complete, click OK.
