WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, open the document as a read-only file in an Office program, and then save it to the SharePoint team Web site using the Save as command. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open the document as a read-only file in an Office program.
  2. Make any changes to the document that you want.
  3. On the File menu, click Save as.
  4. In the Save in box, click My Network Places.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • If the location of the SharePoint team Web site is listed under My Network Places, click it, and then skip forward to step 6.
    • If the location of the SharePoint team Web site is not listed under My Network Places, do the following:
      1. Double-click Add Network Place.
      2. In the Add Network Place Wizard, click Create a shortcut to an existing network place, and then click Next.
      3. In the Location box, type the path to the SharePoint team Web site.
      4. In the Name box, type a name for your shortcut.
  6. If you are prompted, enter your user name and password for the SharePoint team Web site.
  7. Visit the location where the Office document was originally stored.
  8. Save the document.
