SYMPTOMS
If a program uses the OleLoadPicture application programming interface (API) when it loads a corrupted Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) image, you may receive an "illegal operation" error message. The exact symptoms in the program may vary depending on how the program was written. However, in most cases, the program closes. When you run the program under a debugger, you see that the failure occurs in Asycfilt.dll.
When you run the program in a debugger, the call stack appears as follows:
asycfilt!CGIFFilter::InitCodeTable+0x59 asycfilt!CGIFFilter::DecompressImage+0x48 asycfilt!CGIFFilter::GetMore+0x2a9 asycfilt!CImageFilter::DoWork+0x2d OLEAUT32!_PictLoadSyncImage+0x1cc OLEAUT32!_PictLoadNewImage+0x1da OLEAUT32!_PictLoadPicture+0x32 OLEAUT32!OleLoadPictureEx+0x92 OLEAUT32!OleLoadPicture+0x24 OLEPRO32!_OleLoadPicture+0x1f Load_Picture_Sample!CImageView::Load_Picture_from_File+0x195
