SYMPTOMS
An access violation may occur in Mpg4ds32.ax immediately after the Windows Media Player 6.4 buffers 100 percent of an Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) file. This problem only occurs if the video is encoded as MPEG4.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the DirectShow filter renders planar YUV and incorrectly follows a non-planar code path that contains function pointers that have not been initialized.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
