SYMPTOMS

After the small computer system interface (SCSI) miniport driver returns several disk errors, the disk I/O throughput decreases. As a result, the disk class driver sends only one request to the SCSI miniport at a time. The computer does not recover from this behavior until it is restarted.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the disk class driver keeps track of the disk errors, and if the number of errors reaches the preset threshold, the disk class driver disables the performance features to prevent additional errors.
