How to Configure Windows Server 2003 as a Router for a LAN
To configure Windows Server 2003 as a router for a LAN, you must enable LAN routing. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Programs, click Administrative Tools, and then click Routing and Remote Access.
- In the console tree, right-click the server, and then click Configure and Enable Routing and Remote Access on the shortcut menu.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Routing and Remote Access Setup Wizard. For additional information about the configuration options offered by the wizard, search Windows Help for Common Server Configurations.
- Right-click the server for which you want to enable routing, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.
- On the General tab, verify that the Router check box is selected. Also verify that the appropriate option is selected under the Router check box, in accordance with the configuration selected in step 3.
This configures your Windows Server 2003-based computer as a router.
