Application proxy that uses COMTI type library does not install on Windows XP

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install an application proxy that is generated on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000, you receive the following error message for a COM+ application that uses a COMTI type library on a computer that is running Windows XP:

Error registering COM+ Application.

The error logs include the following errors:

Product: MyCOMTIApp (Application Proxy) -- Error 1928. Error registering COM+ Application. Contact your support personnel for more information.

Product: MyCOMTIApp (Application Proxy) -- Installation operation failed.

Even with this error, the application is added to the Component Services Microsoft Management Console (MMC). However, when you try to bring up the application properties, you receive the following error message:

Object was not found in registry.

NOTE: The application proxy installs correctly on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Windows XP Service Pack 1.
