BUG: First Three Screens of Pup Process Do Not Display DBCS Characters Correctly When You Unpup Japanese Packages on English Version of the Operating System

Article ID: 323090

Article Last Modified on 10/22/2002

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q323090

SYMPTOMS

When you unpup Japanese packages on an English version of the operating system, the first three screens of the Pup process display question marks (???) instead of characters. The fourth screen appears fine.

CAUSE

The first three screens of the Pup process are Microsoft Visual Basic forms. These Visual Basic controls are not Unicode. In controls that can potentially display double-byte character set (DBCS) characters, you must select the appropriate font and charset to enable input in DBCS or to display the localized path or other localized items appropriately.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, set the system locale to Japanese.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Commerce Server 2002.
