SYMPTOMS

When you use the Type Library Importer (TlbImp.exe) to generate an InterOp Assembly, the Type Library Importer fails, and you receive the following error message:

TlbImp error: System.NullReferenceException - Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft .NET Framework. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft .NET Framework Service Pack 2 (SP2).
