SYMPTOMS
When you use Microsoft Query in Microsoft Excel, and you try to edit a query that accesses data in an Oracle database, the Edit Query dialog box appears briefly and then disappears.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use a System Data Source Name (DSN) instead of a File DSN when you set up your connection to the database.
