SUMMARY

Some programs are not Windows 2000-aware. Even if these programs are installed by an administrator, they are only available to the user who installs them. This article describes how to make these programs available to all users.

NOTE: The procedure that is described in this article assumes that a program called Program.exe was initially installed under the administrator's account and that the system drive is drive C.

How to Locate the Administrator Programs Folder

  1. Log on as an administrator.
  2. Right-click Start, and then click Explore.
  3. Expand the Documents and Settings folder, expand the Administrator folder, and then expand the Start menu folder.

How to Locate the Program Icon in the Administrator Programs Folder

  1. Log on as an administrator.
  2. Right-click Start, and then click Explore.
  3. Expand the Documents and Settings folder, expand the Administrator folder, and then expand the Start menu folder.
  4. Click Programs folder.


The shortcut for Program.exe appears in the right pane.

NOTE: Only shortcuts are placed in the Programs folder, the actual programs are installed in another location.

How to Prepare the All Users Folder

  1. Right-click Start, and then click Explore.
  2. Expand the Documents and Settings folder, and then expand the All Users folder.
  3. Expand the Start menu folder.

Make sure that the contents of the Administrator/Start Menu/Programs folder are still displayed in the right pane.

How to Make the Program Available to All Users

  1. To make Program.exe available to all users, click the shortcut for Program.exe in the right pane, and then drag the shortcut to the All Users/Start/Programs folder in the left pane.
  2. To access this program, click Start, point to Programs, and then click Program.exe.
