SYMPTOMS
After you type a large number in the Reset fail count after box on the Recovery tab under a service property in the Services snap-in, the number you type may change to a lower number or 578.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if an incorrect algorithm is used to populate the Reset fail count after box.
RESOLUTION
