MacOFFX: Graphics Image with a White Background Is Printed with a Gray Background

SYMPTOMS

When you print a graphics image with a white background from any of the Microsoft Office programs listed at the beginning of this article, the graphics image is printed with a gray background instead.

Additionally, the following problems occur:

  • When you print a PowerPoint presentation that has no background, the presentation is printed with a gray background.
  • When you print a file that contains a text box in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, the text box is printed with a gray background.

NOTE: The darkness of the gray background varies with the printer that you use. This problem mostly occurs with PostScript printers and does not seem to occur when you use Mac OS version 9.0.

RESOLUTION

There is no known resolution or workaround for this problem.
