XADM: The Results Are Not Displayed Correctly in Installable File System If You Sort Items in Japanese Kana Type

Article ID: 320173

Article Last Modified on 2/19/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q320173

SYMPTOMS

In Exchange 2000 Server, if you sort items (Group by, Order by) that use Japanese Hiragana characters, full-width Katakana characters, or half-width Katakana characters, the results may be displayed incorrectly in the Exchange 2000 Installable File System (IFS).

NOTE: Exchange 2000 Server displays all of the items correctly, including Japanese Hiragana characters, full-width Katakana characters, and half-width Katakana characters, when the items are not sorted.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Exchange 2000 Server sorts Japanese Kana type (Hiragana or Katakana) and width type (single-byte character set [SBCS] or double-byte character set [DBCS]) incorrectly in Exchange 2000 IFS.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
