SYMPTOMS
When you are using your Windows 2000-based computer, you may receive a STOP 0x00000050 error message in the Win32k.sys file.
CAUSE
This problem may be caused by a damaged font file with a bad kerning pair definition that is not properly handled by the system.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack that contains this fix.

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, try to identify the damaged font file, and then remove it.
