SYMPTOMS
When you try to upgrade Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Standard Edition to Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Enterprise Edition, you may receive the following error message:
RESOLUTION
The error may be resolved by running the Microsoft Exchange Performance Optimizer, and then retrying the upgrade to Exchange 5.5 Enterprise Edition. To do so, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click Microsoft Exchange Optimizer.
- Click Next, and then follow the instructions to optimize Microsoft Exchange Server.
- Restart the computer.
- Upgrade the computer to Exchange Server 5.5 Enterprise Edition.
The error message that is described in the "Symptoms" section can also occur when you are installing Exchange Server 5.5 Enterprise Edition from the Select CD on a Windows 2000 computer while you are running Outlook Web Access or Microsoft Windows Cluster Services. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Copy the \i386 folder from the Select CD to your hard disk drive.
- Rename Srvmax.exe file to the Setup.exe file.
- Run the Setup.exe file.
