SYMPTOMS
When you are using the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in to display custom columns and you change the focus from one domain controller to another, the information that was displayed in the custom columns may no longer be displayed.
Example
You choose to display a user's last name by adding the Last Name column to the MMC snap-in. When you choose a container with user objects that have a Last Name attribute, the last name is displayed. However, after you change focus to another domain controller, the column still exists, but the data in that column is missing.
