SUMMARY
This article describes how to customize the Setup of the Microsoft Office Converter Pack.
By default, the Microsoft Office Converter Pack installs all of the text converters and graphics filters for the version of the Microsoft Office products you have installed.
This article explains how to specify which text converters and graphics filters to install, by default, for each version of the Microsoft Office programs.

To customize the default text converters and graphics filters installed, follow these steps:
- Download the Microsoft Office Converter Pack. Do not install the Microsoft Office Converter Pack at this time.For additional information about how to obtain and download the Microsoft Office Converter Pack, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

- Click Start and then click Run.
- In the Run dialog box, click Browse, and then browse to the location to which you downloaded the Microsoft Office Converter Pack.
- In the Browse dialog box, select the Convpack.exe file, and then click Open.
- In the Run dialog box, the full path to the Convpack.exe file is listed in the Open box. Place the insertion point in the Open box and move the insertion point to the right of the closing quotation mark.
- After the closing quotation mark, type a space, and then type /t: with the full path (enclosed in quotation marks) to where you want to copy the Microsoft Office Converter Pack Setup files. Then type a space and /c. The text in the Open box should now look similar to the following example:
"C:\Downloads\Office Converter Pack\Convpack.exe" /t:"C:\Documents and Settings\
profile name\My Documents\ConvPack" /cNOTES:
- The folder to which you want to install (copy) the Microsoft Office Converter Pack Setup files does not have to exist. The folder will be created as the files are copied.
- The path to where you want to install the Microsoft Office Converter Pack Setup files may be different from the preceding example. You may also want to copy these files to a network share as a common installation point for your users in a network environment.
- Click OK. The installation program for the Microsoft Office Converter Pack starts, and the Data1.cab files are extracted to the folder that you specified in step 6.
NOTE: There will not be a notification when the files are extracted successfully. - In Microsoft Windows Explorer (right-click Start and then click Explore on the shortcut menu), browse to the location that you specified in step 6.
- Double-click the Convpack.ini file to open it in Notepad.
- By default, all of the text converters and graphics filters are marked with yes to indicate that those converters and filters will be installed. The Convpack.ini file is divided into separate sections for each version of the Microsoft programs supported by the Microsoft Office Converter Pack. To change which converters and filters are installed during the Setup of the Microsoft Office Converter Pack, find the section for the version of the Microsoft program that you want to modify, and then change yes to no for the converters and filters that you do not want installed by default.
For example, in the Word 2000 section ([Word2000]), the default entries are listed as follows:[Word2000]

WordStar=yesTo prevent the default installation of the Microsoft FoxPro text converter, change "yes" to "no" for the FoxPro entry. The Word 2000 section should now look similar to the following example:
NOTE: Changing these options does not affect the non-Quiet operation of the converter pack. Users can still change the options and specify which converters and filters they want installed during the converter pack installation. WordStar=yes - In Notepad, click Save on the File menu to save the changes you made.
- Click Exit on the File menu to close the Convpack.ini file and to close Notepad.
- To run the Microsoft Office Converter Pack Setup with the changes that you selected in step 10, be sure to run the Setup.exe file from the folder where you extracted it in step 6.
NOTE: For a shared installation of the Microsoft Office Converter Pack, you may want to create a shortcut to the appropriate Setup.exe file and distribute the shortcut to the users of your network environment.
More Converter Pack Setup Options
The following lists all of the available Setup options that you can use during the Microsoft Office Converter Pack Setup.
Command line options:
/Q -- Quiet modes for package
/T:full path -- Specifies the temporary working folder
/C -- Extracts files only to the folder when used with /T
/C:Cmd -- Overrides the Install command defined by the author
NOTE: If you change the Quiet mode option of the Converter Pack Setup, users cannot make changes to the default installation of which text converters and graphics filters are installed.
