Site Server logon problems occur after you apply certain Windows 2000 hotfixes

SYMPTOMS

Logon to Site Server mapped Web sites may randomly fail after you install the fix from either of the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles:

319733 MS02-018: April 2002 cumulative patch for Internet Information Services


313450 MS02-012: A malformed data transfer request may cause the Windows SMTP service to stop working


NOTE: Q313450 is included in Microsoft Windows 2000 SRP1, MS02-011 and MS02-012. Both Forms and Basic (cleartext) authentication randomly fail after you install these fixes.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download the following file from the Microsoft Download Center:

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to prevent any unauthorized changes to the file. The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Site Server 3.0.
