FIX: Windows XP Embedded Japanese Command Console Does Not Have Input Method Editor

SYMPTOMS

When a user works in the command console on a Japanese XP Embedded runtime, an input method editor (IME) is not available.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Download the Japanese Windows XP Embedded QFE HotFix, Q317618.exe. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

    Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.
  2. Import this hotfix into the component database from which you build the Japanese runtime.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Japanese Windows XP Embedded.
