A WebDAV Query Returns an Incorrect Total for Queries with a Range Qualifier

Article ID: 317419

Article Last Modified on 11/24/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Service Pack 1

This article was previously published under Q317419

SYMPTOMS

If you specify a range header when you perform a WebDAV query to a SharePoint Portal Server, the SharePoint Portal Server may return different results depending on whether you specify a SHALLOW or DEEP traversal.

The Total Hits should show the number of matched records and the Range should limit the result that is returned in the XML; instead, the Range of values returned seems to work as expected, but the total hits value is incorrect.

The only scenario in which the total hits returns a correct value is a DEEP traversal of the Documents folder.

RESOLUTION
