Article ID: 317081

Article Last Modified on 10/17/2003

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q317081

SYMPTOMS

While you are starting or using Orchestration Designer, an error message may be generated that displays error code 0x500C, which translates to the error label:

E_BTW_ERROR_LOADING_PACKAGE

The error description may contain the following message:

An error occurred while trying to load the the following package or URL.

In addition, the name of the package or URL reference is included in the error description.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if Microsoft XML (MSXML) 4.0 is installed on the computer on which you are running Orchestration Designer. Orchestration Designer uses version-independent MSXML GUIDs to identify methods, which causes BizTalk to always use the latest-installed version of MSXML on the computer. Some of the interfaces that are referenced by BizTalk exist in MSXML 3.0 but not in MSXML 4.0.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
