SYMPTOMS

When you add or re-add a new CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, or DVD-RW device to a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, the computer may not Autoplay the correct Autorun command when you insert a CD-ROM or a DVD-ROM media in the device.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. This problem was first corrected in Windows XP Service Pack 1.
