STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) and Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1).

MORE INFORMATION

Because this hotfix does not use the normal hotfix installation program, complete the following process to install the client side of the fix:

  1. Run the zipped self-extractor file.
  2. Run the .exe file that you expanded in step 1.
  3. When you receive a prompt to select the folder in which to install the file, point the file to your RIS installation folder. For example, ~\RemoteInstall\Setup\language\images\your image\i386\Templates.

NOTE: If the RIS image was created with RIPREP, you must perform these steps on both the RIPREP image and the RISETUP image that corresponds to the RIPREP image.

  1. Rename the Setupldr.exe file that you just extracted to NTLDR.

IMPORTANT: Note that you may find other files that are named NTLDR in the RemoteInstall tree, but these files are not the same. The installation for the server-side fix for Windows 2000 uses the typical hotfix installation procedure.
