SYMPTOMS

When you create a connected page and use the Web Author Approval Assistant to approve both the original page and its connected page at the same time, Content Management Server (CMS) approves the connected page but does not approve the original page.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Content Management Server 2001. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To successfully approve a connected page, follow these steps:

  1. In the Web Browser Client (WBC), switch to Edit mode and click Create New Page.
  2. Create a page, click Save and Exit, and then click Submit.
  3. Click Create Connected Page.
  4. Select a destination channel and a template for the connected page, then create the connected page.
  5. Click Save and Exit, then click Submit.
  6. Click Approval Assistant.
  7. Select both postings and click Approve. Both postings are approved and published.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Content Management Server 2001. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 Service Pack 1.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

To reproduce this behavior, do either of the following:

  • Method 1:
    1. Click Create New Page.
    2. Select a template and destination channel for the page, add content to the page, and then click Save and Exit.
    3. Type a name for the posting, click OK, and then click Submit.
    4. Click Create Connected Page.
    5. Select a channel and template for the connected page, add content to the connected page, and then click Save and Exit.
    6. Type a name for the posting, click OK, and then click Submit.
    7. In the navigation structure, click the original page (that is, the first page that you created).
    8. Click Approval Assistant, select both pages, and then click Approve.
  • Method 2:
    1. Create a new page, then click Save and Exit. Do not submit this page.
    2. Click Create Connected Page.
    3. Select a template and destination channel for the page, add content to the page, click Save and Exit, and then submit the page.
    4. Browse to the first page, but do not submit it.
    5. Click Approval Assistant, select both pages, and then click Approve.
