SYMPTOMS
When you select the Query node in the SMS Administrator console, the console may appear to stop responding (hang) before all of the available queries are displayed.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur after you apply Systems Management Server (SMS) 2.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4). Changes in SMS 2.0 SP4 were made to prevent duplicate queries from appearing in the SMS Administrator console as described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Systems Management Server service pack that contains this hotfix.

How to Install the Hotfix
Using the Hotfix Installer
Note This method is only for Intel-based computers.
- Create a folder in a location that is accessible to your SMS site servers.
- Copy the SMS2.0-KB313614-spX-x86-enu.exe update file (where X is the service pack version) and platform folders to the new folder. The folder structure must be arranged so that the update file is located one folder "above" the platform folders.
- From each of the primary and secondary SMS site servers and remote SMS Administrator consoles machines in your environment, log on using an account with administrator permissions.
- Quit the SMS Administrator console, if it is running.
- Run SMS2.0-KB313614-spX-x86-enu.exe, and then follow the instructions in the wizard.
Manual Installation
Manually Update the SMS Site Server
- Create a folder in a location that is accessible to your SMS site servers.
- Copy the platform folders that contain the hotfixed files to the new folder.
- From each of your primary and secondary SMS site servers in your environment, log on to your site server by using an account with administrative privileges.
- Quit the SMS administrator console.
- Stop all SMS services.
- In the

folder, run the regsvr32 /u Sms_nqry.dll command. - In the

Note This hotfix also contains a SQL script to update the SMS database. If the SMS site server and the SQL server are running on separate computers, you must run the script on the remote SQL server computer.
- Load the Update.sql script by using a SQL server query tool, such as Query Analyzer or ISQL/W.
- In the SQL server query tool, click the SMS database, and then run the script.
- Restart the SMS services.
- Perform a site reset. To do this, click Start, point to Programs, point to Systems Management Server, and then click SMS Setup. Click Next, click Next, and then click Modify or reset the current installation.
Additional Installation Information
To update remote site computers such as SMS administrator consoles, an SMS SQL monitor, or an SMS provider that is not located on the site server, use the appropriate method.
Manually Updating a Remote SMS Administrator Console
Note Before you implement this update on your SMS administrator console, you must install it on the SMS site servers in your environment.
- In the
