SYMPTOMS
Formatting that you create by using PostScript Code is not printed from Word X for Mac.
In earlier versions of Word for the Macintosh, you could type PostScript Code to create complex formatting. With Word X for Mac, most of the formatting that formerly was created with PostScript Code is now available as features in the Word program.
Some examples of formatting created with PostScript Code include but are not limited to the following:
- Rotated page numbers
- Page borders
- Watermarks
CAUSE
This behavior occurs as a result of changes in Mac OS X, which spools data to the printer differently than earlier versions of the Mac OS do.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, you can create the effects that you want by using the functionality in the Word program. Many of the effects are available by using commands on the Format menu or the Drawing toolbar.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
