SYMPTOMS
After you add a Hewlett-Packard (HP) 4300c scanner to your Compaq Presario 5245 computer, the scanner may not be detected or installed by the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard or by Windows 2000 Plug and Play.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if your computer uses the VIA Technologies chipset and you do not have the updated VIA chipset device drivers.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, obtain and install the latest device drivers for the VIA Technologies chipset for Windows 2000.
