SYMPTOMS
After you install Yamaha SoftSynthesizer S-YXG50 version 3 on a Windows XP-based computer, your computer may become unstable. You may not be able to use Windows Explorer, and you may receive a Dr. Watson error message in Explorer.exe.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Yamaha SoftSynthesizer S-YXG50 version 3 is incompatible with Windows XP.
This behavior occurs with the following versions of SoftSynthesizer:
- S-YXG50 NT V3.00.xx
- S-YXG50 NT V3.01.xx
- S-YXG50 NT V3.02.xx
- S-YXG50 NT V3.03.xx
- S-YXG50 NT V3.11.xx
- S-YXG50 NT V3.12.xx
- S-YXG50 NT V3.13.xx
Note that the version number is displayed during the installation procedure.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior and return the computer to the previous stable state, uninstall the Yamaha SoftSynthesizer S-YXG50 software. To uninstall the software, restart the computer in Safe mode or start Windows Recovery Console and rename the Sxgb.dll file. To do this, view one of the following sections.
How to start your computer in Safe mode
To start your computer in Safe mode:
- When you are prompted to select the operating system to start when you restart your computer, press F8.
- Use the arrow keys to select the appropriate Safe mode option, and then press ENTER.
- In Safe mode, click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
- At a command prompt, type cd \windows\system32.
- At the C:\Windows\System32 prompt, type ren sxgb.dll sxgb.delete.
- Restart your computer.
Note that your computer may not restart because of the Yamaha SoftSynthesizer S-YXG50 software so you may need to manually power off the computer.
- In the Yamaha SoftSynthesizer S-YXG50 program folder, click Uninstall S-YXG50.
