SYMPTOMS
In Entourage for Mac or Outlook Express for Macintosh, when you attempt to send or retrieve mail from a Microsoft MSN Hotmail account or attempt to configure a new Hotmail account after October 25, 2001, the following behavior may occur:
- All of the Hotmail folders disappear.
- After you configure a Hotmail account, no folders are displayed.
- The following error message is displayed:

- Entourage quits with the following error message:
- Entourage quits when running AppleScripts, or schedules to access and update Hotmail accounts.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the Hotmail servers were updated on October 25, 2001 to provide greater security. These security updates disabled client programs' ability to gain access to or send mail from Hotmail.
RESOLUTION
Microsoft has released the following updates to resolve this issue.

For Entourage 2001 for Mac, download and install the appropriate update for your version of Entourage 2001.
