FP2000: Error Message When You Try to Publish Your FrontPage Web to an @Home Web Server: An Unknown WinINET Error Has Occurred (Error 12111)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to publish your FrontPage Web to your @Home Web server, you may receive an error message similar to one of the following:

An unknown WinINET error has occurred (error 12111).

-or-


The server could not complete your request. Contact your Internet service provider or web server administrator to make sure that the server has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed. For more specific information, click Details.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Web is not published correctly.

RESOLUTION

To publish your FrontPage Web to your @Home Web server, follow these steps:

  1. Log on to your @Home WebSpace account.

    For more information about how to log on to your @Home WebSpace account, contact your @Home Internet service provider (ISP).
  2. Activate FrontPage for use with your WebSpace account.

    For more information about how to activate FrontPage for use with WebSpace, contact your @Home ISP.
  3. Start FrontPage, and then open your Web.
  4. On the File menu, click Publish Web.
  5. In the Publish Web dialog box, type the following under Specify the location to publish your web to

    where user name is your WebSpace user name.

  6. Click Publish.
  7. When you are prompted to enter your name and password, type your WebSpace user name and password in the appropriate boxes, and then click OK.

    For more information about your WebSpace user name and password, contact your @Home ISP.
  8. When you receive the "Web site published successfully" message, click Done, or click Click here to view your published web site.

To view your Web site or the Web sites of other @Home subscribers, type the following in the Address bar of your browser

where user name is your WebSpace user name or the WebSpace user name of another @Home subscriber.

MORE INFORMATION

WebSpace is a service for @Home subscribers in which to create and publish Web sites. You can use FrontPage to create your Web site and then publish it to your @Home Web server.
