For browser plug-ins to be recognized by Internet Explorer 5.1, you must install them in either of two locations:
- The Library/Internet Plug-ins folder
- The Users/
Home Folder
/Library/Internet Plug-ins folder
Also, the plug-in must be compatible with Mac OS X (Carbon). Older browser plug-ins are not compatible with Internet Explorer 5.1.
Note that some Web pages may contain ActiveX controls that are designed specifically for Windows-based computers. These controls are not supported by the Mac OS. Internet Explorer 5.1 does not support ActiveX controls or Microsoft Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript).
