SYMPTOMS
When you view the security permissions for a folder on a Windows 2000-based server, the security identifiers (SIDs) for the appropriate users and groups are displayed. However, it may take some time for the names that are associated with the SIDs to appear. This delay can be as long as 10 seconds.
This problem occurs only if a Windows 2000-based domain trusts a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based domain. In this situation, the Windows 2000-based domain is being used as a resource domain.
CAUSE
The delay occurs because the server attempts to locate the user account in the local domain. This operation is slow to generate a "failure" response.
