How to Start at the Console Tree of the Internet Information Manager Snap-In
To start at the console tree of the Internet Information Manager snap-in, cick Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Services Manager.
Note that the console tree is in the left pane.

How to Stop a Site Without Interrupting the Web Service
To stop a site without interrupting the Web service, right-click the site that you want to stop in the console tree, and then click Stop.

How to Start a Site
To start a site, right-click the site that you want to start in the console tree, and then click Start.

To pause a site, right-click the site that you want to pause in the console tree, and then click Pause.

How to Create a Configuration Backup
To create a configuration backup:
- In the console tree, click the name of the server on which you want the configuration backup to be performed.
- Right-click the server name, and then click Backup/Restore Configuration.
- In the Configuration Backup/Restore dialog box, click Create backup.
- Type the name of the configuration backup file in the Configuration backup name box, and then click OK.
- Click Close.
How to Restore from a Configuration Backup
To restore from a configuration backup:
- In the console tree, click the name of the server on which you want the configuration to be restored.
- Right-click the server name, and then click Backup/Restore Configuration.
- In the Configuration Backup/Restore dialog box, click the configuration backup file name that you want restored, click Restore, and then click Yes.
- After the restore procedure is finished, click Ok, and then click Close.
How to Create a Virtual Web Folder
To create a virtual Web folder:
- In the console tree, right-click the Web site where you want to create the new folder, click New, and then click Virtual directory.
- When the Virtual Directory Creation Wizard starts, click Next.
- In the Virtual Directory Alias dialog box, type the alias that you want to assign to the folder in the Alias box, and then click Next.
- In the Web Site Content Directory dialog box, type the path for the new folder in the Directory box, or click Browse to locate the folder, and then click Next.
- In the Access Permissions dialog box, accept the default settings, click Next, and then click Finish.
Troubleshooting
If an action, such as stopping a service or restoring a configuration, is not displayed automatically in the console panes, click Action, and then click Refresh.
You must create the folder for the Virtual Web Directory before you create the folder. The process does not create the folder automatically, so you do receive an error message.
