SYMPTOMS

When you type the word "oriente" in Word 2002 for Brazilian Portuguese, the grammar checker crashes and you receive the following error message:

AppName: winword.exe AppVer: 10.0.2627.0 ModName: msgr2pb.dll ModVer: 7.0.0.7 Offset: 00068875

-or-

When you type the word "oriente" in Word 2000 for Brazilian Portuguese, the grammar checker crashes and you receive the following error message:

Winword has caused an invalid page fault in module Msgr2pb.dll.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a problem in the Word 2000 and Word 2002 grammar checker. The following two versions of this grammar checker are affected:

  • Msgr2pb.dll 7.0.0.6
  • Msgr2pb.dll 7.0.0.7


RESOLUTION

Word 2002

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Office XP service pack that contains this hotfix.

Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. The Brazilian Portuguese version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
