SYMPTOMS

A Windows 2000-based client does not register the Domain Name System (DNS) primary domain name if the client is configured to perform updates with both the primary domain name and the adapter-specific domain name. This problem occurs if the client's Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server is configured to perform updates on behalf of the client always. In this configuration, the client registers only its adapter-specific domain name.
