SYMPTOMS
When you use the Windows 2000 Event Trace functions, there is no way to enable an event provider Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) before that GUID is registered by a Trace Provider. This can prevent tracing of the provider's initialization code.
Calling the EnableTrace function on an event GUID (a provider control GUID) that is yet to be registered returns "ERROR_WMI_GUID_NOT_FOUND" (decimal 4200 or hexadecimal 0x1068).
