SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade from Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) to Windows XP on a Gateway Solo 1150 computer, Device Manager no longer lists your AC Link modem. Instead, Device Manager lists your modem as a PCI modem and marks the modem with an icon that indicates that the modem is not working.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Gateway Solo 1150 computer is not compatible with Windows XP. As a result, the AC Link modem does not work properly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
