SYMPTOMS
If you attempt to synchronize your Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox to an offline folder (.ost) file that has reached the 1.82 gigabyte (GB) size limit, you may receive the following error message:
However, the synchronization log does not exist in the Deleted items folder in the Exchange Server mailbox or in the Deleted items folder in the .ost file.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Outlook 2002 limits the .ost file size to approximately 1.82 GB.
WORKAROUND
Use one of the following methods to work around this behavior:
- Permanently delete all unwanted messages from any server based e-mail folders that are set to be synchronized with the .ost file. Press Shift + Del to permanently delete data in Outlook 2002. -or-
- Move data from any synchronized folder to a non-synchronized folder on the Exchange Server. -or-
- Move data from a synchronized folder to a personal folders (.pst) file, and permanently delete the data from the synchronized folder.
