SYMPTOMS
If you run Application Center 2000 on Windows 2000 with Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 installed and you have created your own event filters, those filters are not automatically synchronized across the cluster. Cluster members will use default filter settings instead of your custom filters.
CAUSE
Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 exposed a problem with a malformed Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) query in Application Center 2000, which generated an error 0x80042002 (WBEM_E_REGISTRATION_TOO_PRECISE).
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, upgrade to Application Center 2000 Service Pack (SP) 1. For additional information, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

To work around this problem, whenever you create or change a custom filter, open the Application Center Administration tool, right-click the cluster node, and then click Synchronize Cluster from the pop-up menu.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was corrected in Application Center 2000 Service Pack 1.
MORE INFORMATION
By default, Application Center logs Application Center error and warning events, Windows error events, and Health Monitor error events. If you do not change the default event filter settings, those settings will continue to be synchronized across the cluster after Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 is installed.
