SYMPTOMS
You may be unable to use media types that were not identified before versions of Windows 2000 were released.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Removable Storage Manager (RSM) that is included with the initial release of Windows 2000 cannot add new media types.
RESOLUTION

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
