    • Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 1
    • Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 2

This article was previously published under Q303685

SYMPTOMS

When access to a COM+ component is denied, COM+ logs the following failure in event log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source:   DCOM
Event Category: None
Event ID:   10002
Date:       8/24/2001
Time:       10:35:37 AM
User:       domain\user
Computer:   ComputerName
Description:
Access denied attempting to launch a DCOM Server. The server is:
{GUID}
The user is user/Domain, SID=S-x-x-xx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxx.

where {GUID} is the application ID of your COM+ server application and where "x" can be any number.

However, because one of the internal logging functions does not release memory properly, COM+ leaks approximately 40 bytes for each failed attempt.
