SYMPTOMS
When directory browsing is turned on in Internet Information Server (IIS) version 4.0 or Internet Information Services (IIS) version 5.0, the To Parent Directory link that is returned by the Web Service fails in some browsers.
CAUSE
The HREF that IIS versions 4.0 and 5.0 return for the directory listing does not properly escape invalid characters, which causes the link to be rebuilt incorrectly by some Internet browsers.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
