SYMPTOMS
On a client computer with Microsoft Office 2000 installed, when creating a pivot table in Microsoft Excel 2000 and connecting to a Analysis Services server, only a subset (or even none) of the cubes are visible in the Select the Cube that contains the data you want box.
CAUSE
Because Office 2000 installs the OLAP 7.0 OLE DB provider, only the cubes that can be queried with the OLAP 7.0 provider are visible.
WORKAROUND
To show all cubes from an Analysis Services server, you need to use the OLAP 8.0 provider. To work around this problem, obtain a copy of the SQL Server 2000 installation CD, browse to the Msolap\Install\PTS folder, and run PTSLite.exe.
NOTE: PTSLite.exe installs the PivotTable Service files only, and PTSFull.exe installs the PivotTable Service files and Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC).
