FIX: "Unspecified error" Raised When Working with DTS Packages on Localized SQL Server 2000

SYMPTOMS

When errors are raised while working with Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages in the DTS Designer on computers with localized versions of SQL Server 2000 or where the Microsoft Windows operating system has been localized, a -2147467259 error code and a generic, localized "Unspecified error" are displayed, instead of the actual error.

NOTE: On computers with U.S. versions of both SQL Server and the Windows operating system, a detailed error message is displayed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
