SUMMARY
This article describes the steps to replace a complete formset in an existing generic Management Agent (MA) with the formset for an Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS) Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) MA. (You can replace the formsets in other types of MAs by using a similar technique.)

The forms that are used in any Microsoft Metadirectory Services MA are stored as an attribute in the MA. This attribute is called "zcFormsetV2". (Formsets resemble an integrated group of forms that are bound together to make them easier to manage.) When you use the Forms Designer tool, you can either modify or completely replace these formsets.
Formsets are usually replaced with another formset that is stored in another MA. This replacement can be useful when you work with the generic MA, which is missing many of the forms that are shipped with the other standard MAs (for example, Notes, LDAP, and Exchange).
To replace the formset that is stored in a generic MA with the formset that normally accompanies an LDAP MA:
- Ensure that the Microsoft Metadirectory Services server is running.
- Ensure that a valid generic MA exists in the server.
- Click Start, point to Programs, click Microsoft Metadirectory Services, and then click MMS forms designer to start the Forms Designer tool on the Microsoft Metadirectory Services server. It is recommended that you run this tool on the console rather than running the tool remotely with the Terminal server client.
- On the Main menu, click Formset.
- On the Formset menu, click Open.
- On the Open menu, click From File.
- Use the File Open dialog box to locate the \Zoomserv\Data\Dsgates\Ldap folder.
- Click the Ldap.frs file.
- Click Open.
- When the formset and its contents are listed, click OK.
- On the Main menu, click Formset.
- On the Formset menu, click Save As.
- On the Save As menu, click To Directory.
- In the Save As Formset dialog box, ensure that the Attribute Name box contains a listing for "zcFormsetV2."
- In the Save As Formset dialog box, press the DOWN ARROW key to display the list of possible choices in the Distinguished Name box. The Microsoft Metadirectory Services logon dialog box is displayed.
- Log on to the Microsoft Metadirectory Services server as the administrator.
- When you have successfully logged on to the server, the list of metadirectory objects that can contain a formset attribute (for example, other formsets, any MA, metadirectory methods) are displayed. Select the entry that corresponds to the MA whose formset must be replaced.
- Click Save. A message that confirms a successful save is displayed.
- On the Main menu, click Formset.
- On the Formset menu, click Exit.
- Use the Compass client to log on to the computer as the administrator.
- Locate the MA whose formset had been recently modified.
- Click Configure MA.
- Click the Connected Directory Specifics tab.
- Click the Discovery tab.
- Verify that the form contains various dialog windows, one of which is the "LDAP Server
Address/Name" window.
