SYMPTOMS

If you try to repeat the insertion of AutoText in Microsoft Word 2002, you may receive the following error message:

Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. To see what data this error report contains, click here. When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature similar to the error listed at the beginning of this article.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if you use the F3 keyboard shortcut to insert the AutoText.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the Microsoft Word 2002 Update: June 21, 2001. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To temporarily work around this issue, use the AutoText command on the Insert menu. To repeat the insertion of the same AutoText, follow these steps:

  1. On the Insert menu, point to AutoText, and then click AutoText.
  2. Click the AutoText entry that you want to insert, and then click Insert.
  3. Press F4 or CTRL+Y to repeat the insertion.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was first corrected in the Microsoft Word 2002 Update: June 21, 2001.
