SYMPTOMS

When you use the WinZip utility to extract a third-party program from the Internet to the default folder, you may not be able to locate the Setup file for the program.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the default folder is a hidden temporary (Temp) folder.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, set Windows Explorer to show hidden folders:

  1. Start Windows Explorer, click the View menu, and then click Options.
  2. Click the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.
  3. Locate the program folder, and then double-click the Setup file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
