SUMMARY

This article describes how to migrate Exchange Server 5.5 users from a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 domain to Exchange 2000 running in a native Microsoft Windows 2000 domain.

MORE INFORMATION

  1. Run the Active Directory Migration tool (ADMT) to migrate the accounts in the Windows NT 4.0 domain to the Windows 2000 domain. This creates an additional security ID (SID) on the accounts in the Windows 2000 domain with the Windows NT 4.0 SID. When you move the users from Exchange Server 5.5 to Exchange 2000, the account is stamped by Exchange 2000 with the mailbox rights. The user account in Windows 2000 will then have the mailbox rights to access the mailbox.
