FIX: Cannot Use a Profile Name Longer Than 32 Characters with SQL Mail

SYMPTOMS

When you click the Test button on the SQL Mail Configuration dialog within SQL Server Enterprise Manager after you have configured SQL Mail to use a profile whose name is longer than 32 characters, you may receive the following error message:

Error: 18025: xp_test_mapi_profile : failed with mail error 0x80040111

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

Change the profile name to be shorter than 32 characters.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
